Resource Family Program

The MidSOUTH Resource Family Program provides training classes to prospective resource families, relative caregivers, fictive kin and people interested in adopting children who are in DCFS custody. The training is designed to help resource/adoptive parents understand the challenges and rewards of rearing abused or neglected children.

Connecting (AR) Families Training is a pre-service training for prospective resource/adoptive parents. The Connecting (AR) Families training curriculum was adopted from NTDC (National Training and Development Curriculum). The training consists of eight one to two-hour themes for a total of 14 hours of instruction. 

ARKinship Connect Training is a mandatory training program for relative caregivers and fictive kin as partial fulfillment of requirements to be a fully approved resource home. It is based on five core competencies identified in the Foster/Adopt PRIDE Training developed by the Child Welfare League of America. The training consists of four three-hour sessions for a total of 12 hours instruction.
 
 

ARKinship CONNECT MAKEUP SESSIONS

MidSOUTH Resource Family Program offers makeup opportunities for Sessions 2, 3, & 4 of the training once each month.  These sessions are offered virtually via Zoom Meetings.  Families in need of training should contact their DCFS Family Resource Worker for the training details.
