Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) prevention core competencies establish a professional framework for substance misuse prevention, covering essential knowledge, skills, and abilities for practitioners. Core domains include understanding prevention science, assessing community needs, planning evidence-based interventions, building capacity, and ensuring cultural competence to improve service delivery, workforce development, and community impact.
