Resource Family Program

Program Overview
The MidSOUTH Resource Family Program provides comprehensive training for prospective resource families, relative caregivers, fictive kin, and individuals interested in adopting children in the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) custody. Our training programs equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the unique challenges and rewards of caring for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
Connecting (AR) Families Training
Connecting (AR) Families Training is a pre-service training program for prospective resource and adoptive parents. This curriculum, adopted from the National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC), provides a structured learning experience designed to prepare caregivers for the realities of fostering and adoption. The program consists of eight thematic sessions, each lasting between one to three hours, totaling 15 hours of instruction.
ARKinship Connect Training
ARKinship Connect Training is a mandatory program for relative caregivers and fictive kin, designed to fulfill part of the requirements for becoming a fully approved resource home. This curriculum, adopted from the National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC), provides a structured learning experience designed to prepare caregivers for the realities of fostering and adoption. The program consists of four thematic sessions, each lasting between one to three hours, totaling 7.5 hours of instruction.
