Program Overview

Baby & Me is a comprehensive support program dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of expectant mothers, new parents, and their infants across the state. Our mission is to provide education, resources, and guidance to ensure healthy pregnancies, safe deliveries, and strong starts for Arkansas families.

Through personalized support services, evidence-based education, and community partnerships, we empower parents with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate safe sleep practices, self-care, and early childhood development.

Recruitment

Baby & Me enrollment is during the expectant parent’s 3rd trimester with the first module completed before delivery. Early pregnancies will be placed on our calendar to schedule an enrollment time at the start of the 3ʳᵈ trimester. Post delivery enrollment is from birth to age 45 days. Infants aged 46-60 days must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Teenage mother (up to age 19 during pregnancy)
  • Referral from Department of Human Services
  • Referral from any health care professional
  • Adjusted gestational age for infants born less than 40 weeks gestation (Subtract the number of weeks infant was early from current age. Example, infant born 4 weeks early and now age 6 weeks is 2 weeks adjusted gestational age.)
  • Infants with previous hospitalization

Approval is required for clients outside of the above ranges. Contact the Baby & Me coordinator for clarification or other issues.

Our Commitment

At Baby & Me, we believe that every baby deserves a healthy beginning, and every parent deserves the support to provide it. Our program is designed to:

  • Enhance maternal and infant health outcomes
  • Provide access to vital healthcare and parenting resources
  • Support families through pregnancy and beyond
  • Promote safe sleep, home safety, and early childhood development

Whether you’re an expectant parent, a new caregiver, or a healthcare provider, Baby & Me is here to support participants every step of the way through structured activities led by Parent Support Mentors. These mentors facilitate or schedule 20- to 30-minute sessions that focus on essential parenting topics, including infant crying, routines, self-care, home safety, parental guidance, and child developmental milestones. Upon completing each session, families receive a pack of diapers and wipes as an incentive for participation.
